Privacy Policy

Mira is made by Mira Studios. We built Mira to be safe for children and gentle with everyone's privacy: we collect as little as possible, we never sell your data, and we never collect any personal information about a child. This policy explains exactly what we collect, how we use it, who we share it with, and the choices you have.

The short version

  • The only personal information we collect is the account holder's email address.
  • We collect no child's name, age, birthday, photo, location, or contacts.
  • Anonymous learning and usage data is collected only if you turn it on — it is off by default, and the app works fully without it.
  • Speech is checked on the device; audio is never stored or uploaded.
  • We never sell your data and we never show ads.

Information we collect

Account email. To create and secure an account, we collect the account holder's (parent's) email address. It is used for sign-in and password reset, and it is the only personal information the app collects.

Optional learning & usage data. If — and only if — you turn on data sharing (it is off by default), we collect anonymous learning data such as which lessons were completed, questions answered, and time spent. This is linked to an anonymous account identifier, never to a name or any child identity, and is used only to show learning progress and improve the app.

Microphone & speech. Speaking exercises use the microphone and on-device speech recognition to check pronunciation. Audio is processed on the device to score the attempt and is never stored or uploaded by Mira. The microphone is used only during a speaking exercise, and only after you grant permission.

What we never collect

  • No child's name, nickname, age, age range, gender, or date of birth.
  • No phone number.
  • No photos, contacts, or location.
  • No advertising identifiers — we do not track you across other apps or websites.

How we use information

We use the information above only to operate your account and, where you have opted in, to show learning progress and improve Mira. We do not sell your data, and we never share it with third parties for their own marketing.

Service providers

We rely on a small number of trusted providers who process data on our behalf and are required to protect it consistent with this policy:

  • Supabase — secure database and hosting for your account and any opted-in usage data. Data is protected so that an account can only ever access its own data.
  • Payment processor — if you purchase a subscription, billing is handled by our payment provider (such as Stripe or the Apple App Store) under their own privacy terms. Mira never sees or stores your card details.

Keeping and deleting your data

We keep your data only while your account is active. You stay in control:

  • Delete your account at any time in the app, under Settings → Delete account. This permanently removes your email and all associated data from our servers.
  • Turn data sharing on or off at any time in the app, under Settings → Privacy — this grants or withdraws your consent.
  • You may also email us to request access to, or deletion of, your data.

Children's privacy

Mira is designed to be set up and managed by a parent or guardian. We do not collect personal information from children, and we gather optional anonymous usage data only with verifiable parental consent, which a parent can withdraw at any time. Our practices are designed to align with the U.S. Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) and other applicable child-privacy laws.

Changes to this policy

If we make material changes, we will update this page and revise the date shown above. Continued use of Mira after a change means you accept the updated policy.
